# Anthropic Is Building Conway

## Claim

Buried within the source code of the accidentally published [[entity-claude-code-d51|Claude Code]] package — which pushed roughly **half a million lines of code** to a public registry — is evidence of an unannounced, always-on agent project named [[entity-conway-d51|Conway]].

The project includes:

- A standalone sidebar architecture (see [[concept-conway-architecture]])
- Extension ecosystems via [[concept-cnw-zip-extensions|.cnw.zip]]
- Webhook triggers for asynchronous wake-up
- Connectors for Claude and Chrome

## Confidence: HIGH

**Testable:** Yes — the artifact is a public npm package.

## Validation

- The leak occurred via [[entity-claude-code-d51|Claude Code]] v0.3.9 published to npm in **March 2025**.
- ~500,000 lines of source code were exposed.
- Community analysis confirms the leaked architecture matches the description (Search/Chat/System layers, `.cnw.zip` packaging, MCP integration, Claude/Chrome connectors, webhook triggers).
- No official Anthropic denial has been issued.

## Counter-Perspective

Some [[entity-anthropic-d51|Anthropic]] insiders on Hacker News have claimed Conway was a *prototype that was scrapped* post-leak, with focus shifting to Artifacts and [[entity-cowork|Cowork]] instead. Notably, no `.cnw.zip` references appear in production Claude Code v1.2. This complicates the claim's strategic weight — see also the broader [[framework-anthropic-enterprise-stack|Enterprise Stack]] framing.
